The Soul Survivors

Mel Day - Vocals

Mel Day - VocalsMel Day, like Errol Williams first saw The Soul Survivors perform at the Selly Park Tavern in 1991, although Frogman had met Mel years before, when Frogman was working with Birmingham reggae band Reality.

When Frog spotted Mel in the audience, the band dragged Mel up on to the stage and that was to be Mel’s first performance with the Soulie’s.

From then on Mel became a regular at the Tavern, singing with The Soul Survivors on any of his available Thursday’s (at that time Mel was working in summer season in Blackpool)

Over the following years, Mel made frequent appearances with the band until joining the Classic Soul Show at the end of 1997.

Following the departure of Thomas Kelly from the band in October 1998, Mel Day and Dave Howson became official members of the Soul Survivors.

Over the following years, Mel made frequent appearances with the band and also appeared in The Soul's Theatre production " The Classic Soul Show" at the end of 1997.

Mel still to this day makes regular appearances with The Soul Survivors
